Peter Schaeffer
Digital Enablement Lead
GSK
Peter Schaeffer has spent more than twenty years at GSK building a career at the intersection of operational excellence and genuine innovation always asking how the industry can do better, and then actually trying to find out.
As Associate Director of Process Management at GSK, Pete leads the design and implementation of technology and process improvements that accelerate clinical development. But what sets his approach apart is a commitment to evidence over assumption: running experiments where others run slide decks, and bringing a researcher's curiosity to problems the industry has long treated as settled.
That curiosity led him to Drexel University, where he earned a Doctor of Business Administration studying the adoption of digital health solutions applying academic rigor to the very challenges his field is still working through. At TransCelerate, he led a cross-industry team of fifteen subject matter experts to build tools now used across pharma to accelerate patient-facing technology in clinical trials. Earlier, he drove agile experimentation at GSK that reimagined patient recruitment and trial participation from the ground up.
Pete holds an MBA from Penn State and a DBA from Drexel, with certifications in Design Thinking (Darden), Lean Six Sigma (Villanova), Data Science (UC Irvine), and Project Management (PMI).
He believes the future of clinical research is built not on any single breakthrough, but on the courage to rethink the system and the discipline to actually do it.
